ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) Alaska scientists say the possibilities of a polar bear encounter have elevated after analysis reveals the bears are arriving on shore earlier and staying on land longer, a report stated.

Scientists on the U.S. Geological Survey discovered adjustments in sea ice habitat have coincided with proof that polar bears’ use of land is growing, the Anchorage Each day Information reported Saturday.

The polar bears come to land from the Beaufort Sea in the course of the ice-melt season, when the ocean ice breaks up in the summertime and refreezes within the fall, scientists stated.
