Paul Manafort appeared in court today to plead not guilty to 12 charges including money laundering and conspiracy against the United States. His associate Richard Gates also pleaded not guilty.
The White House is already taking steps to distance themselves from Manafort who formerly served as Trump’s campaign manager. They’ve taken to referring to him as an “unpaid volunteer,” a laughably transparent turn of phrase. Manafort was key in getting Trump elected and his indictment reflects terribly on the entire administration.
While exiting the courthouse, Manafort was accosted by reporters and refused to engage with them, shoving and slipping past in a hurry. A rigid smile plastered across his face seems to be the only thing holding him back from a complete meltdown.

If even half of the charges are true, this man deserves to go to prison for a long time.
