After the bombshell report late Friday that special counsel Robert Mueller has filed his first indictments with the grand jury, Washington is in a tizzy. The indictments are sealed, and so we won’t know who exactly the subject of the indictment is, which poses a huge problem for the Trump media machine at FOX News.
Without knowing who Mueller and his team have targeted with this first indictment of what will almost certainly be many, they don’t know who to smear. Perplexed, but not deterred, former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski decided to just create a shadow president out of thin air and shift the blame to that non-existent president’s non-existent administration.
“What we should be focusing on are the continued lies of the Clinton administration — the continued fallacies that they perpetuated,” he told the Fox & Friends weekend crew.
Pressed – if we can call it that – on what he thinks the indictments cover, Lewandowski doubled down on the Trump defense talking points, most of which have already been proven false.
“I am certain of this: this has nothing to do with the President. If there were bad players on the outside that had a periphery or a small role in some type of the campaign… my guess is these charges have nothing to do with the campaign what so ever because I was there.”
The desperation is palpable. You can see the entire Fox & Friends interview with Corey Lewandowski below.
